WCTC News 7/1 - Gas Crimes, Retail Crimes, Danielle Redlick, Christiano Ronaldo
Saturday Jul 02, 2022
Saturday Jul 02, 2022
This is my first attempt at covering some recent events and news stories including a reported rash of gasoline thefts, a similarly reported uptick in "Organized Retail Crime", the acquittal of Danielle Redlick for the murder of her step-father turned husband, and the dismissed civil case against Cristiano Ronaldo regarding an alleged 2009 sexual assault. I also smuggle in some takes on the Amber Heard trial in the context of her recent media appearances.

Ep 2 : Charleston Mass Shooting
Friday Jun 17, 2022
Friday Jun 17, 2022
**note: This was recorded almost a year ago, long before Uvalde, Buffalo, Racine, and here's a list of more. There's one every day. I have an internet connection again (although it's spotty) and a place to stay so I'll be posting all recordings made in the meantime.
There's some warble in the audio, there may be some mistakes and there are sure to be some cringey moments, but I'm just going to be OK with that. Feedback welcome **
Everyone's familiar with the broad strokes of this case but who were the victims, how was the case handled in the media, and how sure can we be that this was inspired by online racist propaganda? Very sure. The answer is: very sure.

Ep 1: Mark Fisher and John Giuca
Monday Aug 09, 2021
Monday Aug 09, 2021
If you've heard about this case you know the story of Mark Fisher's fateful night out in the big city where his life was tragically cut short. You know of the highly credible wrongful conviction claims regarding John Giuca, one of two men convicted of his murder. You may even be aware of the daring vigilante mission Giuca's mother undertook to try and clear her son's name.
But what about the substance of the testimony, recanted and otherwise? Or the political history of the prosecuting DA? How did financial and political incentives play a role in the outcome of the trial, and what of the civil suit filed by the victim's parents?
We discuss all of this and more.
BTW: The audio quality isn't great on this first try so take it easy on us. We've contacted some experts so follow us to get an alert for future episodes which should sound a bit better.
